36-40. During the weekly ultrasound screening, we look at the location of the fetus, the amount of amniotic fluid, the position of the placenta, degree of maturity, thickness, fetal vital signs and dimensions.
Knowing the biometric data of the fetus can help in choosing the method of labor management (spontaneous delivery or caesarean section).
We also pay special attention to the examination of the biophysical activity of the fetus (respiratory movements, fetal movements, fetal tone) and to the monitoring of the circulation of the brain and umbilical cord, with the help of which the supply of nutrients and oxygen in the womb of the fetus and possible danger states can be recognized.
In the event that any of the above parameters deviates from the physiological value, a closer observation of the fetus or possibly premature birth of the fetus (induction of labor) may become necessary.
